Surat Ash-Shu`arā' (26: 69-74)
"And recite to them the news of Abraham.
When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
They said: "But we found our fathers doing thus".
We saw the talk of idolators during the period of Ibrahim (عليه السّلام) in the above verses. They knew that those idols couldn't do anything to them, neither good not bad, but they simply follow the idol worship as their forefathers did it!! If we take random set of people of any age, area or tradition, we can observe the same thing. Howsoever mankind advances in terms of logical thinking and reasoning, their faith and related traditions, customs etc. remains the same, the same old blind aping from their forefathers, without even giving a tinge of thought or logical analysis! And the same trend is gonna be continued... So isn't it better that we turn out to be the reasonable forefathers for our next generations, so that the burden of their heedlessness are not put on our shoulders?
And we can be the reason of a positive change in our inmediate previous generations too? So that we can throw away all existing baseless customs and traditions; at least advise our living forefathers and be an appreciable model to our extensions?
The more we tend to be careless in our faith, the more regardless are we about the TRUTH, the more we ignore the real teachings of Islam, the worse will be the next generation who copy our example; 10-50 degrees worser than us and the desease will be contagious! Who knows if we too are slowly building a foundation for another generation of idolators or atheists? ARE WE NOT SOWING THE SEEDS OF A DANGEROUS FAITH, TRADITION and CULTURE? WHY ARE WE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT THIS? ISN'T IT ALREADY LATE FOR US TO REALIZE THE SITUATION? ISN'T IT THE TIME FOR BRINGING ABOUT A POSITIVE CHANGE?
