I guess most of them got the definition of 'patience' incorrectly. Is it suffering in silence? Is it curse inside, abuse inside, struggle inside, backbite and show smiling face outside?
Suppose you are undergoing a severe test from Allah which needs patience at its best. And imagine that you keep on cursing, talking bad about and hating Allah, but in prayer alone you smile and say to Allah that "I'm patient"; do you think that it's patience? Do you think that HE'll accept it?
If you can't show patience in and out, if you can't be nice to someone in and out in spite of whatever they do to you, better don't do it, as Allah doesn't look for your outward deeds unless your inner soul is having a good intention, unless you are patient inwards, unless the smile comes from the heart, unless you do it expecting reward from Alalh. Make out that if you are showing this 'so interpreted' patience, ultimately you lose the game. I feel it would be better to depart that scene and choose to do some other good deeds so that your days are not wasted, rather than clinging on to 'acting patience'!!
And realize that the patience with the good intention from inside is nothing but being patient for Allah, with the help of Allah, through sincere prayers to Allah; and only those who are humbly submissive can show this Real Patience.
"And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah ]"
(Surah Al Baqara:45)
